here's another one of my little trinket treasures from a long held-onto studio stash - a lovely little cylindrical sterling silver salt shaker, 1 1/4" in height and 3/4" in diameter - with a top that is removable for you to place within a diminutive keepsake (a stone, a note, a lock of hair, a baby tooth...the possibilities are endless). this time i've drilled two river stones that i plucked from the oconaluftee river not far from my house, which runs through the cherokee indian reservation and great smoky mountain national park.
available in my etsy shop. (SOLD, to a gal all the way over in dublin, ireland; i love that it will cross the ocean to be with her)

Speaking of spiritual leaders, imagine who has touched those very stones as they tumbled about the river for centuries....what brought them to you?...

love to think about those stones and all that they have seen...and then the family that used that salt shaker...
beautiful piece full of the richness that is life.

Ah, Nina...just looking at this brings me joy (stashing away money for a much hoped for one day purchase), but reading your words even greater joy! Thank you, thank you for your words and insight and putting beauty out in the world for others to receive.

When I think of the meanings of salt.... I think of precious spice , currency for trade, preservation and salty tears. And its those salty tears that for some reason feel close whenever I stop by. Good grief Nina - you do it to me every time. Some one will wear this beautiful piece and have a little place to keep those special salty tears. How wonderful...

I never miss any of your postings, although do not comment on them all (for fear of gushing!). I hope you know that you are an inspiration to me whenever you write and share your thoughts. I am not surprised that you are a spiritual healer, I always leave here better off than when I arrive. Healing balm your words are. So don't ever think you are rambling to no one, I am here, and judging by your comments, many of us visit daily. I hope to show you my Aotearoa (New Zealand) one day but I loved visiting your one today. I have one hope when it comes to you, that you and I will meet one day. Simple! Ur latest jewellery offerings are superb. I too have dabbled in a bit of body adornment using natural materials this week, so if you get a chance, jump over to my blog and peruse. Would love some feedback. See this is why I don't always comment because I ramble on. It should be called 'essays' not 'comments'!
