it's thanksgiving at my house today! my beloved UPS man, kevin, pulled up, blew his horn, then walked up to the porch carrying a gigantic cardboard box. what could it be? walter, like george, was curious.
needless to say, the zingerman's box came up off of the floor and out onto the deck, where there was a table and safety from inquiring noses.
my goodness: six different types of deli cheeses, a pound of corned beef (and all the fixings for reuben sandwiches - how did she know i'd been craving them, of late?!), another pound of smoked
turkey, a couple of huge dill pickles, cole slaw, potato salad, brownies, an entire sour cream coffee cake. two different loaves of deli bread. my heart is touched, my stomach is excited. and all of this, from a friend i met first when i taught her at asilomar 3 1/2 years ago, and again when she flew all the way to italy to take my workshop there. thank you, dearest nilene! walter sends his thanks as well, although he sends his regrets that i'm keeping him at bay. but not too far, as you can see. both of the boys will be coming to see me this weekend, and oh my goodness, i'd best either hide what i want or enjoy sharing this beautiful bounty with them!
the world is so very full of wonderful people. my heart overflows with gratitude for all of you out there who have been in touch with your best wishes, warm thoughts, and concerns. i cannot thank you enough for being here and there. xo
