My boys try to stay out of my "studio" which is a small extra bedroom but when they see it, they always laugh at me. I bought a nice looonnnggg table but it ends up filled up with so many parts and pieces that I end up working in an 8-inch spot-all hunched over and squished. I happen to think it part of the creative mind :)

And if you had a larger space, it would be just as disorderly. That's just a fact of our lives. You obviously work best that way because you make such beautiful jewelry!

kathryn

you're a creative...messy studios go with that at times! i can say that cuz mine is the same!!!

when the station fires in california were licking the back of my home a few years ago, i had a very similar fantasy...it's sorta like a clean slate!!

Cream cheese icing on homemade carrot cake or pecan and cocnut icing on from scratch German chocolate cake - hmmmm. . . what a decision! And one that I have to make every year for October 18 - we are birthday twins, exactly - even the same year. So, from here in very dry central Texas to you in the greening to fall Carolina, I am wishing you a wonder-full birthday and happier year to come.

I can't wait to hear what you thought of the creative work space in Colorado. How did you find that space for working in?

these are lovely...

I have dumpster fantasies also! I rarely see the top of my work space in my studio either. I just seem to gravitate toward piling things up. The most frustrating thing for me is that I know something is there somewhere but can't put my hands on it. So excited about the "Traveling is for Babies" pendant I ordered. Can't wait to see it.

So glad you are posting again. You were missed.

  • Cathy Cullis
i find much joy in the words and art and connection with/of my london friend Cathy Cullis; her embroidered artwork, her dolls, her drawings and poetry all make me gasp. go take a look for yourself - you'll see what i mean.
  • Julie Whitmore Pottery
Julie's pottery is whimsical and dear - a true reflection of her beautiful spirit, and i have amassed quite a little collection of cups, tiny plates, a bowl with a robin holding a forget me not in its mouth. be careful, though - her work is addictive!
  • Kate Phillips - painting, vessels
check out kate's beautiful prints, and her really wonderful little torso vessels. kate is from scotland, living in san francisco, and i am beyond smitten with everything she creates...
  • Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe - Asheville
my favorite bookstore - an independent one, of course, and in downtown asheville. go inside, have a cup of soy chai latte, and browse amongst the extensive collection of poetry, fiction, and art books for as many hours as you can spare...
