I do hope you feel better soon. In both body and mind. That first photo reminds me of a delicate hummingbird nest, made with the tiniest bits. The photo and nest are so lovely.

And what kind of birds are in the last phot? A type of red finch? I haven't ever seen one of those in my yard, perhaps I am too far north. But I have been enjoying the juncos (before they leave with the spring) and the cardinals this winter. They sing because they can...

ahhh such a great Brtish film - im proud!

I love that watch necklace with the eggs. Very cool!

super inspiring words and images and thoughts, as always!
it's so funny, i was humming 'spoon full of sugar' to myself this morning about 2 hours before i saw your post! maybe it's all the birds i have outside my own window....

...and I thought I was the only one who cried during this part of the movie! It's the same as the scene with the 'bird lady' in Home Alone 2... I don't know what it is about birds. My family (and others) have said I must have been a bird previously, as I am always humming my own tune... take care of yourself. I'm sending healing thoughts and I'm about to go pour a cup of tea in your honor! Jamie V in MT

Finally we are having warmer weather in the Midwest and I smile at the songs of the birds bringing the hope of spring with them. And the memory of the theatres when I was a child that I thought sure were really castles! hope you are feeling better-you,ve brightened my day. CW

Nina, Nina, Nina. In sickness or in health, everything you touch becomes art. There is no one like you.

Diana Frey

Despite you not feeling up to par your creations show quite the opposite. With your visiting birds as muses, your designs sing their praises. Do hope you are feeling better soon. I have been enjoying the doves, Goldfinches, Steller Jays, Scrub Jays, Robins and Sparrows visiting me. Isn't the beginning of spring grand!

Cindy Forrester

You are the coolest lady and artist I know....

So beautifully written, Nina...did you say you were maybe going to create/write a book? It seems like a must! So many people would benefit from that, I think.
Hoping you feel all better soon!
ps-love the latest nest of pretty scraps and bits. good thing you are a saver...

dear Lady, I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling unwell but glad to hear and see the voice of creativity and heart through whatever ails you. I am recovering from 5 years of illness (one whole yr in bed) and doing the very thing you're doing now sustained me through it all. I empathise and sympathise and thank you for yr words. sending good thoughts yr way.

I hope you get to feeling better Miss Nina! I wish I could create like you when I was sick...Hell I wish I could create like you period! LOL

Love the watch case filled with all kinds of treasures. Your creations are beyond any words that I know. Relax and breathe deeply.

Jen crossley

The watch looks great if we could only go back to our childhood out lives were so simple then not like today life seems all to hard sometimes

Nina, Nina,
We only met the once, but that visit stays with me and I am sending you quiet consolation. If I was there my arm would be around your shoulder right now.
Dear One, it doesn't have to be like this!

we have so many birds at the cottage....but not those little red ones...what are they ?....male or female ??

and I hope you are feeling better !!!

Love every nuance and element in your soul full creations and the symbolism that is attached to every piece. Sorry you're feeling poorly. Sending good thoughts.

I feel like I've been living in a cave, but I actually do not remember that song at all. Maybe I blocked it out because I really don't like pigeons - maybe I never saw Mary Poppins??!! - that almost sounds unAmerican, well not really, but sort of.

P.S. I got my hands on one of your sisters egg treasures - bit by bit I hope to wind up with a tiny nest full. LindaSonia

Here you are, not feeling well and still making magic. These 'nests' of lace and fibers and fabric are wonderful (and that seems like such a mundane, boring word when it comes to your art). You may not feel like singing right now, but your fingers, mind and heart are definitely doing just that!

Such wonderful things come from those beautiful hands........

Deborah VanDetta

As I'm working on copper wire bird nests for a charm swap I pop over for a quick visit, and your newest creation takes my breath away and brings tears to my eyes.

Thank you, Nina, and feel better soon.

Happy spring thoughts are flying your way!

Tina in McLeansville

what a perfectly delicate little's just the way the birds would do it...with a little of this and a little of that. and i love the color of raspberries...the necklace looks like raspberries with those little lacy cookies covered in powdered sugar...and equally delicious! ellen has been the busy bee, hasn't she...what lovelies! but most of what you must to get well and stay well...i wll have a hot tea with honey and lemon for you tonight, with prayers to help you be out and about soon! xo

I love the secret backside messages...hope you are feeling better. xo

This is so stunning. I saw this and my fingers just itched to touch it. I especially loved the look of it before it was in the watch case. I am in complete awe of it's beautiful, intricate nature! I can't imagine how long this must have taken you. What beauty your fingers have created...

Dear Nina,

I hope you feel better soon. "Mary Poppins" is one of my all-time favorite movies and holds such a special place in my heart. My mother took me along with my Nana to see it when I was a child. It was a very special treat, as we did not see many movies and I can only remember going to see this one as a young girl. I had a record player and played that LP until it was so scratched and worn that it was virtually unplayable! There are a few songs on that original soundtrack that still bring me to tears and give me goosebumps. It is so ironic that you posted about that, as I watched the DVD just last week when I was babysitting my almost 4-year-old nephew. I loved seeing his reactions and laughter, as I imagine those were my exact reactions when I first saw the movie so many years ago.

Thank you for sharing your newest lovelies with us. I know that Ellen's visit will raise your spirits and I hope you are feeling better as you read this comment. Take care.

I do just love the nest-in-the-watch; makes me think of a diving bell....
I notice that your finches are already getting their yellow feathers! I always feel sort of embarrassed for them when that happens - going from such subtle and understated brown to that wild and crazy yellow. Hard to believe that they're the same little creatures.
Think I might have to break down and get one of those dear little eggs....
(I also do love that Andy Goldsworthy book...)

Reading your words, one feels almost there, sitting next to you as your hands transform all of your wisdom and perceptiveness into beautiful pieces of life and art. I'll have to read "Remembering the Bones" after that morsel you shared with us. As for Mary Poppins' "Feed the Birds" all I have to say is

Ah, what cute little birds. And that song is one of my boys' favorites. Any signs of spring in the mountains yet?
