i've spent nearly four hours online today, listing the pieces that have been so patiently waiting to be tended. Many of the finer details - the wiring of teeny seed pearls into a sterling chain, the wrapping of briolettes, the crocheting of pearls - were done in the random (and few) pockets of time that i had to work on jewelry while staying with mama in alabama. i've been home since late sunday, and still have not yet tackled the upheaval that is called a studio; this morning and afternoon i sat out on the screened porch working on the laptop, and have finally come in to the living room at walter's insistence, once the summer afternoon thunderstorms rolled in.
there are six - seven? larger necklaces, most of which feature favorite special glass shards that i plucked from the river and its sandy little beach this past winter. i love these treasures, but need to share their beauty with the rest of the world. there will always be more shards, at least while i have the ability to crawl down steep sandy banks and land on the tiny little shore at water's edge. glass in the shape of a heart, glass in the shape of a wing, even porcelain the color of the soft summer blue sky have all been fashioned into what i consider to be very, very special jewelry pieces. all one of a kind. and i am also listing some of the simple "prologue" vintage watch chain necklaces that i made while in alabama - some with soft green prehnite, some with soft blue green amazonite. there is a small central sterling loop, onto which an heirloom relic (ring, pin, bit of chain) or one of my charms can be tied with a bit of ribbon, lace, or embroidery floss. pictured below is one of the green prehnite necklaces, with my close friend katey's own personal charm purchase of "sweet grace"; she wore it when she came to visit with mama and me in montgomery, and when she and i went out to sweet and lovely Grace Church for a visit. i actually re-wired her charm to hang from the ring, but it is a lovely look to have one simply tied to it as well. i love this practical and useful approach to collecting and interchanging different pendants for one necklace chain.
i'm showing a blue-green amazonite prologue chain here with one of my word charms (necklace sold without charm). such a simple thing, and a beautiful use of snippets of embroidery floss that are too short to use in stitchery. anyway, go take a look, if for nothing other than to see what i've managed to eek out, work-wise, while away. and now you can see how walter and i are doing our best to settle back into life here on good old Heartrock Hill. xo
Love these beauties...these words. Such a blessed little space of time in which to escape from the here and now. Enjoy that porch time! xo

I am honored to have been able to purchase the necklace with Julie's bird bead and Lorri's dyed crochet lace and all your lovely, time consuming chain making and closure conjuring. It's a lovely, quiet, perfect piece and I promise to give it a good home.
Here's hoping the necklace becomes as at home with me as Walter is on your porch! I love seeing his pictures. I miss having a special Springer friend.
Welcome home.
XO

So nice to see a post and your ornaments. Your new picture shows a woman who is serenely and naturally chic. I bet your mom had the greatest time in the world with you. What a wonderful gift: Time.
